Around Campus: Green Building
FSU Facilities Department initiatives
The first of four strategic initiatives of the FSU Facilities Department is to “foster and promote environmentally-friendly practices that support sustainability and reduction of life-cycle costs.”
In 2008 the FSU Design Guidelines and Specifications were revised to include the new strategic initiative and Appendix L was added. Appendix L requires LEED certification as the minimum standard for major construction projects and a goal of Silver rating on all major projects where it is practical.
USGBC – LEED projects
FSU is now a member of the US Green Building Council. The USGBC LEED rating system is the national standard for green building construction from the planning phase to move-in.
