reCycle Bike Coordinator

The reCycle Bike program offers FSU students the option to choose a more sustainable mode of transportation and adapt a healthier lifestyle. We aim to reduce the amount of cars driven to and on campus, decrease the amount of abandoned bikes piled up in landfills, and provide affordable transportation to students. FSU students are able to rent one of our 70 refurbished bicycles for a nominal fee for the semester or academic year.

reCycle Bike Coordinator Details:

  • Monitor and provide basic upkeep of refurbished bicycle fleet
  • ┬áHold two bike distributions and two bike returns each school year
  • Track student bike renters, distribute contracts, and maintain program files
  • Work with University Cycles to repair bikes as needed
  • Develop workshops and programming to engage campus community about biking
  • Maintain a social media presence, currently reCycle Bike has a Facebook account
  • Communicate with renters and get people excited about the bikes themselves, and biking around campus and the community

Desired Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm and passion for environmental and social sustainability
  • Knowledge of bike riding etiquette, safety, and basic repair
  • Familiarity with Tallahassee bike routes / willingness to get connected with other local community bike programs
  • Ability to multi-task and meet critical deadlines
  • Self-motivation, ability to work independently, and accept constructive feedback
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable talking to large groups and presenting in front of classes or at events about bike related issues
  • Strong computer skills and ability to use Google Drive, calendar, Outlook, and Microsoft applications
  • Basic knowledge of social media and how to use it
