TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Sustainability efforts at Florida State University are among the best in the nation, according to the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).

FSU earned a Gold rating from AAHSE’s Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) report. The ratings are published in the AASHE’s Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) report and used as drivers for AAHSE’s Sustainable Campus Index (SCI) rankings. Rankings awarded are judged across 17 impact areas in that address the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of sustainability.

In addition to earning Gold status within the STARS rating program, Florida State also earned a No.1 ranking in the research category and a No. 4 ranking in the grounds category of this year’s Sustainable Campus Index (SCI) rankings.

"Congratulations to Florida State University for their incredible work in creating a more sustainable world," said AASHE's Executive Director Meghan Fay Zahniser. “Upon reading the innovative and high-impact sustainability initiatives within this report, I’m encouraged that the global sustainability transformation that we desperately need is, in fact, happening.”
