The past few weeks, we've reached out to some of our alumni from Sustainable Campus to find out what they have been up to, their favorite parts about working with Sustainable Campus, and how they integrate sustainability into their current work. This week, we'll be hearing from MC Levy, who was one of our previous Eco-Reps Coordinators, and she also ran Take Back The Tap!

Tell us about yourself, your pronouns, what you do for work/are currently studying, and when you became interested in sustainability.

Marie-Claire (MC) Levy, she/her. I work as the Annual Board Fund Campaign and Development Systems Manager for the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), one of the world's largest humanitarian organizations. I served for the month of April in Poland. I have been interested in sustainability probably since about middle school when I realized it was a big issue.

What was your role while working with FSU Sustainable Campus?

I had many roles! I ran Eco-Reps and Take Back the Tap and also helped with the proposal for a sustainability LLC.

What were the most important things you learned at Sustainable Campus?

One of the most important things I learned was not to give up.

How do you get to practice sustainability in your current position?

I serve on my organization's Green Team! We are in charge of office compost and helping make sure we try and use the most sustainable vendors possible for our events, among other initiatives.

Set the record straight: what’s one common myth or misconception about sustainability that you wish people knew more about?

Vegan leather isn't actually as great as we think it is!

Sustainable Campus would like to thank MC for sharing her Sustainability Journey with us, and you can follow her on Instagram @emmmceeeee. Have an interest or career in sustainability? We'd love to hear from you! Email our Communications Coordinator Abby Wright (ajwright@fsu.edu) with the subject line: Sustainability Journeys.
