Sustainable Campus Staff Picks: 5 Podcasts We're Loving Right Now

Sustainable Campus recommended podcasts

At Sustainable Campus, we love sharing all of our sustainability knowledge with the community at Florida State University. We are often asked about resources that can be used to learn more about sustainability. Podcasts are a great way to learn about a topic while walking to class, working out, or getting ready in the morning. To help you learn the most about sustainability, we have scoured the internet for some of our favorite podcasts! If  you’re looking to expand your understanding of sustainability and find some new favorite podcasts, you’ve come to the right place.

1. Mind Body Green

In 2017, Mind Body Green expanded from an online media platform to include podcasts. MBG was started in 2009 by husband and wife Jason and Colleen. They started the blog out of passion for complete wellness after eating organically, finding passion in yoga, and wanting a more full bodied approach to healing injuries. They describe their approach as “a 360 degree approach to wellness that incorporates mental, physical, spiritual, emotional, and environmental well-being—because we believe these pillars of wellness are vital and interconnected. Hence mindbodygreen (one word, not three).” Now you can take their knowledge on the road with these hour-long podcasts!

2. Live Planted

The Live Planted podcast is a conversational-style vegan podcast designed for anyone interested in easy plant based living. The podcast was started by Alyssa who describes herself as a “regular girl who happens to be vegan.” Learn from experts and normal vegans how to make the vegan lifestyle work for you in these small 30 minute segments.

3. The Plant Proof Podcast

The Plant Proof Podcast was started by Simon Hill as a way to address common fears he and others shared when transitioning to a plant-based diet. Questions such as Am I going to lose muscle?” “Will I gain fat and feel bloated?” “What about my iron?” “Will I get enough protein?” are answered by those living happy and healthy plant-based lifestyles. Learn about ways to adapt your diet for specific needs with this podcast and the blog entries on the Plant Proof.

4. TED Talks Daily

TED (Technology, Entertainment & Design) has become a powerhouse in creating and promoting thought provoking online content, such as YouTube videos, taken from annual conferences held in many cities all over the world. While TED does not put out exclusively sustainability related content, many of the topics focus on sustainability and are a great place to go for information.

5. The Minimalists

The minimalists, Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus, are known for their documentary Minimalism, which you can find on Netflix. Minimalism is a movement that focuses on living with less stuff to provide greater freedom of movement and finances. They have written books and have been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, Forbes, TIME, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, BBC, and NPR. Learn more about minimalism in their podcasts!
