Thank You from Sustainable Campus

As the academic year comes to a close, we’d like to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed their time, talents, and service to creating a more sustainable campus. Despite the challenges of this year, there were many successes and wins for sustainability across campus. These successes would not be possible without the support of our campus and community partners, students, faculty, staff, and friends, so we’d like to take a moment to recognize some of the highlights of the 2020-2021 academic year and say thank you!

This was an incredibly successful year for Sustainable Campus programs like Eco-Reps, reCycle Bike, Food Recovery Network, and the Seminole Organic Garden. We are proud to have held several safe, in-person events over the past year including reCycle Bike distributions, Food Recovery Network recoveries, Garden Work Days, special events like Plant-a-Palooza in partnership with Club Downunder, and many more. Thank you to all students who participated in Sustainable Campus programs this year and to the campus partners who helped make these events possible.

In addition to successful programs, Sustainable Campus also had a record-breaking year for Green Fund donations during FSU’s annual giving event, the Great Give. In just 24 hours, we raised over $4,000 and exceeded our fundraising goal. Donations to the Green Fund directly support student learning on campus and make it possible for our campus community to turn their sustainable ideas into a reality. Thank you to our donors!

Furthermore, our academic programs also saw great success this year. We are proud to have hosted the largest Sustainability Fellows cohort to date. Thank you to our community organizations who collaborate in our Sustainability Fellows and outreach programs! Additionally, students were able to get involved in community partner projects through remote Campus as Living Lab collaborations. Thank you to our faculty partners who share their expertise through Campus as Living Lab and Sustainable Campus activities!

Finally, we are grateful for the continued support of our friends and neighbors in FSU Facilities. We’d like to extend our special thanks to our partners in Grounds and Landscaping for providing support with the Seminole Organic Garden, the FSU Waste Management team for all of their support with Chuck It for Charity and other sustainability initiatives, and Building Services for rolling out a successful Community Waste Station program.

From the entire Sustainable Campus team, thank you to all of our outstanding volunteers, donors, and partners across our campus and community. We look forward to even more wins and collaboration in the upcoming year.
